Fees & Insurance Coverage
Rates
Our counsellors each set their own rates. Please call us for accurate numbers.
Receipts
Receipts for fees paid for counselling services are issued at the end of each session, which can be submitted for reimbursement by your extended health care benefit insurance program. If your policy includes sessions with a psychologist (most do), we will qualify.
Supervision
Clinical supervision is a common provision in the health industry, applying to professional therapists, psychologists, nurses and doctors. Its purpose is to provide a confidential environment for counsellors to reflect on their work with a seasoned, experienced colleague or mentor.
Each ALCG counsellor is supervised at the administrative level by a registered psychologist, whose information will be listed on your receipt. We've set up our group practice in this way to make mental health services accessible to more people in Ottawa, as some policies can be quite limited.
Your sessions are always private and held in the strictest confidence. Supervision is used by our counsellors to discuss their own role as therapists. The focus is on supporting and furthering professional development, ethical responsible practice, and sound mental wellness so they remain in a solid position from which to help others. It is not mandatory for our particular field, but we believe in its value. [ Learn more @ Wikipedia ]
Do I Need a Referral?
ALCG does not require a doctor's referral, self referrals are welcome. Some health benefit plans do require this for coverage, so please check your plan's specific requirements.
Please contact us to learn more.
Important Notice
As of May 5, 2025
Due to a billing issue involving our membership with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), we are required to temporarily pause our clinical practice.
We want to reassure you: this issue is entirely administrative. It has no connection to our clinical work, the quality of therapy we provide, or our professional conduct. Our email system had filtered the College’s messages as bulk mail, which caused an unintended delay in paying our annual renewal fees. As a result, CRPO registrations (for Bob West and Lorraine Jaksic) were automatically suspended.
We took immediate action to resolve the issue. Penalties were paid in full, and the process to reinstate our Registered Psychotherapist status is underway. We anticipate reopening within approximately two weeks, or as soon as the College has finished processing our file.
All affected appointments are being rescheduled, and we will communicate directly with each client as soon as we are able to resume practice.
We deeply regret this disruption, especially given the importance and sensitivity of therapeutic work. Your well-being remains our highest priority. If you have an urgent need for support during this time, arrangements are already in place to connect you with trusted colleagues. Please contact Jenny at 613-727-4455 or clinic©abundantlivingcounselling.com for immediate referrals or assistance.
We sincerely thank you for your patience and understanding, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Warm regards,
Bob & Lorraine
Mental Health is Essential
Updated Sept 28, 2021
Please know you are not alone right now. The world is enduring a shared trauma, and however it may be affecting you, you deserve support.
Good mental health could not be more vital than in times of crisis, and governmental mandates have recognized the importance of our services from day one.
As an essential service, all mandates allow us to see clients in person. We continue to follow protocol and take all possible health and safety precautions, making sure you can access help safely. Please note that masks are worn and required at all times for in-person sessions.
Stay safe and be well,
Bob & Lorraine
